Tour, Talk and Tasting at a REAL Honeybee & Chicken Farm in Pleasant Hill

Perfect for your little toddler to learn all about honeybees, a farm and even get to taste some fresh made honey!

We will walk around the yard and look at the beehives, vineyard, and chickens.  We will study the flowers and see where the bees are gathering nectar.  We will look at the different kinds of chickens, and the farmer will show you the different colored eggs that the hens produce.  Then we will go to a shady spot, where all will be invited to see the enclosed bees in a demonstration hive, and we'll chat about bees and perhaps even find the queen.  Yummy tastings of honey on pretzel sticks will close out the tour.

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes.  No perfume is a good idea; the smell sometimes bothers the bees.

$3 per ohm member family, $5 per Gen. Member family

what is ohm member and gen member?

    June 10, 2013

    • Hilarie H.

Hi Sara: ohm stands for official hhh member, these are families who have paid a nominal fee (eg 5.00 a month) for savings all month with activities, coupons, free trial class set ups and with local businesses too. Membership is per month, 3 months or 6 months and we offer savings from 50.00 off registration waived at Mygym to 15.00 a session off swim lessons and savings at movie night or this talk with a 2.00 savings just like for art in the park too. Gen members are for everyone else. Thanks for asking!

I'm allergic to bees, but will bring my epi pen. Would we be able to skip the bee portion and check out the chickens?

    June 4, 2013

    • Hilarie H.

Hi Yuri: The owner said he will respond on your above question regarding the chicken visit :) Meanwhile, yes Tilden Park in Berkeley's Little Farm, Ardenwood Farm but that is in Fremont. We do have our Horseback Riding Playdate that offers horses and goats. We do an ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation) tour that the kids get to learn how to take care of animals like a vet and see live dogs and cats. All of the other places are still pretty far away like Half Moon Bay Area...will keep it in mind when I find another for you :)

Hi Yuri: sorry, I talked to the director at the Farm and there is not a way to skip the bee portion to just do the chicken part, probably best due to the allergy concerns to be aware of this concern. Very sorry Yuri, please come to another event soon! Hope to meet you both!
