The Catalog is out. Check in out online here http://issuu.com/slotinfolkart/docs/slotinfolkartnov2013
The auction will start with quite a few southern Face Jugs, followed by several Sam Doyle's, whose work generated furious bidding in the Spring, many pieces selling for well above the estimates. Also included are some nice large Mary Lou O'kelleys and some large early Howard Finsters. The end of the first day includes quite a few low estimate pieces from well know artists that any of us could afford. If you get hooked and come back on Sunday, the end of the day again has quite a few bargain pieces for your collection.
A few of us made the Spring Auction last April. Its an Atlanta only event, nothing like it anywhere else in the World. When the catalog comes out I will be posting info on the major pieces.
ITS FREE, Not only is it free, Complimentary breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served during the day. so FREE FOOD too, and, don't tell anyone, drinks: water, soda, beer wine and cocktails, are all FREE TOO. And you can look at the art up close and personal, and BID. Lots of Fun to watch or participate.
All auction items are sold in the exact order of the catalog. Bidders participate live in person, leave absentee bids and arrange to have a phone operator call during the auction for live phone bidding.
So come watch the bidding action as wealthy collectors, actors, movie stars and museum buyers bid for the absolute best Folk Art available for sale.
The auction begins at 10am Eastern and runs approximately 75 lots an hour over two full days.
Comments from the Spring Auction:
Fun, fun, fun art event. Plus cool artist studios within walking distance in downtown Buford. Bring your walking shoes and walk around Buford's historic district.- Tina
This was a 5 Star event! A lively crowd willing to spend some big bucks on their favorite art; an energetic Auctioneer who knew how to keep things moving at a fast clip and entertain us at the same time. The home style BBQ buffet lunch was a totally unexpected tasty feast! -Lance
Fantastic art auction, great BBQ and flowing cocktails-Tina
