SunFish Pond - 9 Mile Hike Germantown

Lets celebrate the last weekend in April and hike at the Germantown Metro Parks. These trails have some strenuous hills and will be tough going for sure. We hill hike the orange trail, explore a little bit, and take in our packed lunch around the SunFish pond area. Bring your cane pole or tie a line to your trekking pole! (Photo is from Twin Creeks)

Pace - Everyone has their natural hiking speed or style of hike.  My peeps tend to move fast, so it is more of a brisk pace. That's just how we roll. That said. We take breaks, fun around, and enjoy the scenery.  We almost naturally form a couple groups. It's all good, but this hike is for folks who like the challenge of a faster pace and challenging hills, but can keep a conversation going without a problem.

The Park contains large open grasslands, cedar glades, dry hillside prairies, all stages of natural succession, several ponds, and an exceptionally high quality stream, Twin Creek. The park also benefits from the fact that it still is surrounded largely by agricultural land and the wooded Twin Creek corridor.

Hiking Gear - Proper hiking footwear and trekking poles if you desire. I will send an update a couple days before the hike.

Water - Bring water, but we will break at a water fountain to refill.

Lunch - We will break for lunch....bring a snack too.

Restrooms - Yes, at the Nature Center and Portable toilets along the way.

Trail Difficulty - Yes, this is going to be strenuous hike.  Be realistic that your fitness level matches the hike description. Please send me an email if you have questions.

Other considerations - I love dogs but prefer not to have them with us...thank you. Roughly about a 3-1/2 to 4 hour hike.

Post Hike Activities - To be determined

Carpool - If someone wants to organize a designated ride share location to meet together, that would be great...thanks!

For Cinti folks, the Meijer on Tylersville Rd is a good spot to meet for a carpool. Say about 9am. Anyone interested?
