4th Annual Free to Breathe 5K run/walk or 1 mile walk

It is about that time of year again to start thinking about the 5K race in November.

Why am I doing this?
I lost my dad, a non-smoker, to lung cancer in November 2007. He was 66 years old. Although lung cancer was his secondary cancer (it spread to his lungs from squamous cell cancer at the base of the tongue), it is the cancer that took his life in November 19, 2007.

It was an extremely difficult time for my family then and now. The entire experience is something that has taught me a lot about life. It is also something that I have to deal with on a daily basis. I decided that I needed to do something to honor my dad and best friend.

How can you help??

Option 1 - Join my team!
I am putting a team together called George's Song for the Free to Breathe run (or walk) in memory of my dad, George Erickson. Yes, I am planning to run the 5K. So, I am looking for teammates to run a 5K (3.1 miles) in this race. You also have the option to walk a 5K or just walk a mile in this race. If you are interested, then please join the team George's Song. You will then be given the option to do your own fundraising for the National Lung Cancer Partnership.

Option 2 - Volunteer!
Don't want to walk/run. Why not volunteer? Free to Breathe depends on the kindness and dedication of volunteers to make the event a success and ensure that we accomplish our mission. A variety of volunteer opportunities exist, and whether part of the planning committee or event day festivities each person makes a difference. Volunteering is a great way to be involved with Free to Breathe! We can use your help with outreach, promotion and planning as well as on the day of event.
