Hiking, camping in the Ohiopyle State Park, PA

The plan has been
modified to one night camping based on the number of participants.

On June 29th,
Saturday, we will hike to visit cascades, 2 waterfalls, gorge, and will finish the day with a potluck dinner at the campsite.

On Sunday, after breakfast, we will hike for 2 small waterfalls, have a lunch,
and take a shower, before heading to home.

We will stay at
the group camp site # 230 which has a shower facility nearby.

Parking is available in front of the camp site and there is also a turning point and an overflow parking space in case if we need more space. The cost will be ~ $10
per person depending on the final number. The campsite check in/out time is 3:00 PM. Dogs are not allowed at the group camp sites.

At the end of the day, we all will be hungry. A potluck dish is
a main dish, salad, or side/dessert item.  The Park is an alcohol-free place. We will have time to prepare meal. I will fix a rice dish

Hi Sooni, So far still planning to go tomorrow. Now if it's a complete washout tomorrow morning, that may change. I will call your cell phone if something comes up. I am bringing my own main meals. I did get some hummus and pita chips to share. I have all my camping gear out.. now just need to pack it in the car and figure out hiking clothes too. Hope to see you in morning at Ohiopyle.

    Great experience, Daryl.
If we find the way to prepare silver turtle w/o dutch oven, that would be a highlight. An individual site has a picnic table, fire ring. I expect same in the group site.

Yes, that would be a great idea.
I will cook rice and side dish.
I asked a park ranger about the camp fire, he said it would be OK.
Looking forward to camping with you.

So far, the dates look good. My hometown is Uniontown and I grew up hiking and playing at Ohiopyle. Beautiful area. There is a great bike path along the Yough river. Cucumber Falls is a great spot to cool off under the Falls!

This is an amazing area..not far from Amish country or even white water rafting.
