Maryland Tibet Temple: Peace Park hiking

This will be a ~3-mile hike at the Peace Park of Maryland Tibet Temple (Kunzang Palyul Choling).

Trails are easy to moderate with some ups and downs.

We will visit two main Stupas (Symbols of Enlightenment), five Gardens, and the Stupa Park.

There is a prayer bell in each garden and in front of the main temple.

After hiking, there will be an optional tour inside of the temple which has a Prayer Room and Dharma Room.

For both, it is required to take shoes off.

Below is the link for the temple.

    Hi All,
Forecast for Saturday is 85 degrees with scattered thunderstorms.
It will be a LARGE group for this short hike. In order to provide an opportunity for everyone to enjoy at each stop, we will walk a little bit slowly. Trails are easy to moderate. Mosquito spray is essential. After the temple parking lot is full, additional parking spaces are on both sides of the street. If you need to change your RSVP, please do so before Sat. Looking forward to meeting you all.

I am on the waiting list, and this will be my first event with meet up. I saw someone posted they would be going even though it is full, as the Temple had no visitor limit. I would love to just plan on attending. (with a friend) Is that possible?

I see on the Meetup site there is a waitlist, but the temple site doesn't indicate there is a visitor limit. I'm going to just plan on attending...

    Hi All,

We will hike the Peace Park on Aug. 10, at 10 AM as scheduled with a minor change.

The renovation of the Kunzang Palyul Choling (KPC) Maryland temple will be started from the middle of July. Therefore, an option of visiting inside of temple will not be included. I will upload photos of the Prayer Room and Dharma Room to get an idea. The Peace Park is right across from the temple. The trails and wooden bridges over the stream are all in good condition. But mosquito repellant is a must item.

We will meet at the temple parking lot. Both sides of street are available for additional parking. If the temple parking lot is full, I will stay at the entrance.

In order to keep temple opened to the public, the temple asks a donation. If you would like to donate, there is a donation box.
    See you on Aug. 10th,

    Happy Trails!

Are dogs (on leashes, of course) allowed on the hike? I know not in the Temple...
