Dolly Sods Trail Sign Replacement and Party!

This is another trip to Laneville Cabin for the weekend to help the Monongahela National Forest Service replace all the trail signs in Dolly Sods and party afterwards! We will head up to Dolly Sods on Friday evening, and get an early start on Saturday morning. People will be grouped and dispersed to various trail junctions in Dolly Sods Wilderness Area to replace the trail signs, then enjoy some swimming at the Forks of Red Creek, followed by a big ol' party that night! Oh, on your way to the locations you will get to enjoy some of the finest scenery in the Eastern US as well! With a little luck, the rhododendron will still be in bloom and some huckleberries should just be coming out to enjoy along the way! We will be enjoying great food for dinner such as chicken and ribs BBQ or a fried turkey, or steak over a campfire! You will be able to learn all there is to know about one of the finest Wilderness Areas in the USA by sharing stories of each of the group's hikes in and out, so making new friends in the process! The picture is from one of the hidden falls (and a past trip I have done) you too can enjoy if you dare to go on this trip! This trip is cross posted from the Washington Backpackers Meetup Group. Hiking will be moderate to strenuous according to ability and how far you can go into the wilderness safely in a group. The views average spectacular and go up from there! Trail Maps are here: http://www.wvhighland...

This trip has it all...wide ranging views such as at Bear Rocks, Lion's Head and Rohrbaugh Plains Point Overlook to one of the finest wilderness canyons out there....and a great swimming hole or 3 to boot! So you get to volunteer your labor for a difference you can actually see...instead of being punched like an ATM, enjoy some of the finest scenery and stories you will come across and enjoy waterfalls and swimming holes the way there were meant to be enjoyed....after a great day's work, followed by a party, so what is not to like? Sign up early as the cabin only holds 12, so after that you will be tent camping in the yard....if you snooze....you lose!

We spent this past weekend in the cabin for Roaring Plains Trail Maintenance Trip and I have to say it is really nice with a full kitchen, bathroom and living room with a very agreeable front porch to enjoy in the evening! The cabin is beside Red Creek, so you go to sleep at night enjoying the sounds of rushing water....most enjoyable! If you ever wanted to enjoy Dolly Sods, a true wilderness with very unique scenery and a cool climate during summer, this is your chance for an easy trip!
