From the trail description: Part of Middle Mountain in the George Washington National Forest, and sister hike to the Duncan Knob Hollow Hike, the Duncan Knob hike offers solitude, a rock scrabble, and great views of the Massanutten Range and Shenandoah Valley. Water is scarce over most of the hike, so make sure to bring plenty.
So 1) yes: there is a rock scramble at the summit (though I've been told it's optional, to get to the best views) and 2)Very little water on the trail. BRING ENOUGH .
As long as Fido is leashed/well behaved, he/she is welcome.
We can set up a carpool at the SAVAGE MARC train station. Googlemaps from the station to the trailhead: http://maps.google.co...
We'll start the hike at the trailhead at 10. Carpools should probably leave Savage NLT than 715.
I'll be at the carpool site, but will be transporting my dogs as well.
