2,200 ft with two different ascents

http://www.hikingupwa... off the hiking upward website. From the trail description: Part of Middle Mountain in the George Washington National Forest, and sister hike to the Duncan Knob Hollow Hike, the Duncan Knob hike offers solitude, a rock scrabble, and great views of the Massanutten Range and Shenandoah Valley. Water is scarce over most of the hike, so make sure to bring plenty.

So 1) yes: there is a rock scramble at the summit (though I've been told it's optional, to get to the best views) and 2)Very little water on the trail. BRING ENOUGH .

As long as Fido is leashed/well behaved, he/she is welcome. We can set up a carpool at the SAVAGE MARC train station. Googlemaps from the station to the trailhead: http://maps.google.co... We'll start the hike at the trailhead at 10. Carpools should probably leave Savage NLT than 715. I'll be at the carpool site, but will be transporting my dogs as well. My cell is[masked]

    Define brisk?

The hikes generally string out into different clumps, depending on members pace preferences...but we do regroup periodically (and before any changes in direction)

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
