Presidential Traverse, White Mountains, New Hampshire

This is a small trip of 25 miles and about 9000' change in elevation, so a walk in the park across the worst weather crest in the US, with half of it above treeline! Best way is from the north at the Appalchia trailhead off Rte. 2 in the north and walk south until you hit another highway. I recommend a one night backpacking trip, so this is what I would call a very strenuous trip so 4 days will be required with travel time. Details here: There are AMC Huts but the going rate is $85 a night and we are supposed to be a backpacking you decide! This trip should be done no earlier than Memorial Day weekend as mud season should almost be over by then and there will be more daylight as well as the initial climb is over 4000' up to the high ridge above treeline we will be walking on most of the way. This area has 2 or 3 jet streams converging on it most of the time which is why it has the reputation for the worst weather in the world...and is richly deserved as well over 100 people have been killed in this area over 150 years. Hence you must be prepared for winter weather on this trip above treeline and totally exposed rainstorms, so this trip is not for the faint of heart, but willing to endure the risk for the 50 mile views you will enjoy! So here it is...another trip you have to do...before you die! So let's figure this one out and let me know if Memorial Day is a good time as the wildflowers should be in bloom as well or let me know if another date would work better!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
