  • Apr 19, 2014 · 9:00 AM

Yes, again!

Lets head to Patapsco to take a 6.3 mile, sometimes strenuous walk in the woods. We will see the Patapsco River, the Liberty Dam, and the McKeldin Rapids.

I have a silver Subaru Outback and will be there a few minutes early. My cell phone number is[masked] 3211.

Directions:

From I-695/I-70 West take I-70 to Marriottsville Rd. ( Exit 83). Go North on Marriottsville Rd. for 4 miles to the park entrance on the right.

From I-70 East take Rt. 40 to Marriottsville Rd. Turn left. Park entrance is 5 miles on the right.

From Rt. 26 take Rt. 26 to Marriottsville Rd. Go South 4 miles, park entrance is on the left.

Note: there is a $3 per vehicle fee to park in the park.

Thanks for organizing a fun hike Chris. Even the recently cluster-bombed portion was fun. :)

Last time we started at 9, and finished at 1:10- I expect it will be about the same this time.

I was late for the last hike to the rapids area.
I parked near the rapids and hiked until I got to the other side and saw the sign that said the rapid trail was closed. I did wait to see if I could connect with the rest of the troop, but then I went back through the rapid area to my car. It was dicey, especially alone, but I got safely through. Even if the trail is still closed, I know that we can get through.

The rapid trail was closed? I wonder if that's the same one we're supposed to take. I guess if it's closed we'll just do what we did last time.

Are trekking poles recommended for stream crossing? I am a novice hiker.

You shouldn't need them on this hike, I don't think there are any stream crossings

This time we will not miss any turns, and we'll take the official path to the dam...

It would be more reassuring if you ended sentence with an exclamation mark instead of... Now it just seems ominous.

We'll take the official path to the dam...but sneak through the gun club next door to leave! Muhahah. No, we'll take the official path to leave.
