Let's make this another memorable year by joining us in our annual camping, hiking and yoga retreat. Volunteers are welcome to help coordinate the preparation. I could use some help.
What makes this a different camping and hiking than others? We refrain from alcohol, meat and loud music. We give ourselves a chance to retreat in order to advance. We observe silence and nourish our bodies with holistic and nourishing foods and energy.
Weekend Goal: To retreat, to refresh, to rejuvenate. To learn some yoga stretches you can practice before hikes or to practice in your daily life to reduce stress and re-balance yourself. We will spend two days of exploring nature, hiking, practicing yoga and retreating from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Friday early evening, we will practice a friendly, gentle yoga practice that is appropriate for ALL levels, including first time practitioners, that includes pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation. This is an excellent way to awaken the body, remove inertia that causes fatigue and dullness, create that balance that brings the physical body into higher state of awareness preparing us for a healthy, active and restful weekend of fun.
After the practice, we will have a vegetarian potluck. Please bring a side dish good for 2-4 people. Indicate what you are bringing to help us plan. Suggested items to bring are hummus, green salad, bread, juice, fruits and healthy dessert. Del Marie will provide the main dish (pasta stir fry with sautéed vegetables, your choice of sauce or she is taking suggestions at this time). For those who have joined us in the past, they can remember the sattvic cooking and the fun we had sharing.
For Friday night after the meal sharing, we will enjoy a "satsang" and share stories, relax and or talk about what is yoga and what does yoga mean to you or any relaxing activity. All are optional if you choose to have a quiet moment instead.
Saturday morning, yoga begins at 7:00 (60 minutes), breakfast 8-9 am. For breakfast, oatmeal (and accessories) will be available. Then we will hike nearby trails at Lassen Volcanic Trails. (Will update and tbd). Pack your lunch for the hike. We will observe some quiet time in the afternoon. Saturday night dinner will be on your own though we encourage everyone to eat at the same time. To minimize waste, remember to bring washable dishes, flatware and mugs.
Sunday morning, we will begin yoga at 6:30 (60 minutes). Bagels, cream cheese, fruits and juice will be available. Hike to be determined but around the Lassen Volcanic area. Check out from the campsite is 1 pm. We will check out before the hike.
A group site is reserved for us for Friday, Jun 7 - Sunday Jun 9, 2013 at Almanor in the Lassen National Forest.
Like any other camping sites, there are restrictions, rules, regulations. There is a maximum of 25 vehicles allowed with the group. Anything over that will be in the overflow and will pay $3/day so carpool is strongly encouraged. Besides we need to be promoting that anyway. The $3 will be paid from the monies collected.
This is a camping ground that is part of Lassen National Forest. Check-in is Friday at 1 pm and departure is Sunday, 1 pm.
Cost is $25 per person for two nights of camping, includes Friday dinner and two breakfasts and yoga. We always have more than enough to extend food for Saturday dinner.
You must prepay to register. Refund is allowed only in the event of emergency or if you are able to find someone to take your place. If unable to go, arrange refund with the person on the wait list. This is money well invested – for your health and to learn yoga.
Contact: Del Marie, (916) 243-5644.
We are allowed 25 cars. Thereafter is $3 per car for the weekend. The $3 will be paid from the money pool.
