Second Saturday Art Hike

Yes, I know you'll be tired from your big hike, but just hurry home and consider this a way to stretch out your muscles as well as your imagination! I'll lead you to some of my favorite midtown art hang-outs; many have snacks, music and wine. Expect crowds, especially later in the evening at the galleries near J. Okay to bring older kids, but sometimes the art content is on the wild side, and so is the crowd on the street!

This is about a 4 mile loop, not counting the walks through the galleries themselves.

We will leave the trailhead at 6:10pm sharp, because most venues close at 10, and it takes time to see the art in addition to getting to it.

Look under Files (in "More" tab above) for a map to enlarge and print. I may change it before the meetup, so try to do this close to the date. Click on the map to enlarge and print it out to bring, in addition to a small flashlight to read it with, some cash for a late dinner or snack, comfortable walking shoes and an adventurous spirit.

The times I've suggested on the map are loose. It is easy to lose people in the crowds, and we all like to view art at our own pace, so plan to walk with a couple other people and keep track of them at each venue, (meeting outside before moving on helps, and exchanging cell phone numbers is a good idea) but we won't be trying to keep our entire group together. If you get separated, use the map to get to the next venue or to skip one and try to meet at the following. I hope to grab a late dinner at Ma Jong's and talk about the art before heading back to the cars.

I am soooo sorry! Wanted to go so badly, but ran out of time. Know I won't make it to the meeting place in time. Damn!!

I'll join up with the group for a couple hours and then turn into the undead and head over to the Zombie walk

Thanks, John and Robin! You are now co-hosts of this night's event. Gordon has helped me out on other ArtHikes and everyone had lots of fun. Reminder to all: it's hard to keep a group together, so the onus is on each individual to use the map, keep up with the group or let people know if you're doing your own thing. Let me know if you have any questions!

    Have fun!

Looks like this will have to be a leaderless hike, unless someone else wants to step up. Sorry, and have fun!

I am sorry to say that I have an event up in Squaw Valley earlier this day and am not sure I'll make it back in time to lead. If anyone would like to step in and take a headcount and walk the group through the stops (on the most recent ArtHike map posted under MORE/FILES in the menu on our Meetup pages), it would be great. If you are uncomfortable with this, sign yourself off the hike. I hope to see you in August if not this Saturday. Sorry to seem such a flake...but have fun and happy hiking! :-) susan
