For all of you penny watchers like me, let's park at the same spot we normally park at for Training Hill, as it's still free. This does mean, however, we'll need to walk about 1/4 mile to the trailhead, but it's worth the $10 savings.
This is the official trail, but in the past we've done it in reverse and it's worked out well.
We can take the Clementine trail from the Confluence past the dam and along the Lower Clementine Road to Shortcut Trail. From there, we head downhill to Mammoth Bar and hook up with the 1.8 mile long Confluence Trail back to our cars.
There will be hills and a few miles of climbing (not Training Hill climbing), but enough to get the heart pumping, so be prepared. Views of the lake are awesome.
Bring plenty of water, snacks if needed, sticks, sun hat and as always, a great sense of humor - you'll probably need it on one of my hikes!
*** If the weather is warm, feel free to pack your speedos and/or water shoes for a paddle at Clark's Hole on the last stretch ***
I-80 to Elm Ave exit
Turn left and follow to Lincoln Way (traffic light)
Left here, and go through next light all the way down the canyon to the river (Confluence). Here, might a right as if going towards Cool across the bridge and immediately after crossing bridge you'll see a green gate with lots of cars parked - this is Training Hill entrance. Find a spot and we'll meet here at 9.15am.
C U on the trail!
