From 4th and S Streets in downtown we walk accross I-5 along the riverfront to the Tower Bridge. We cross the Tower Bridge and walk north on the West Sacramento Riverwalk to the I Street Bridge. We cross the I Street Bridge to get back to the American River Bike Trail. We continue along the bike trail to Discovery Park where we walk out to the confluence of the American and Sacramento Rivers.

After regrouping at Discovery Park we walk back to 4th and S on the Sacramento side of the river along the bike trail and through Old Sacramento. When possible, we take a closeup river detour along the dock and pedestrian walkway.

This would have been my first hike with this group, but the heat has gotten to me and I will not be making it. I look forward to the next one.

    Hello Shannon,

I have more information about the hospitalized hiker. His name is Gopal Tiwari. He is alone in Davis and a relative is trying to come to help him from India during this emergency. The website is http//gofundme.com/3qbyaO, where there are more details and where you can make a donation to aid him.

    Hello Shannon,

The temperature in Sacramento is predicted to be 109 degrees today. I think that it is just too hot to be hiking. I will be skipping this event. Please be aware that a UC Davis post-doctoral student from India in his thirties sustained a heat stroke while hiking recently in northern California, was hospitalized, and is presently in critical condition on a ventilator. You should possibly considering cancelling this hike today to be prudent.
