Over the River & Through the Woods: Rancho Cordova: 6+miles

Bring water and wear layers. Winter, fall and spring, we hike in the dark, so bring flashlights, too! If there's a chance of rain, come prepared (I'll cancel if it's pouring.) Good boots or trail shoes recommended.

We leave at 6:10 sharp. If you're running late, okay to call:[masked] Susan

Dogs okay on leash.

There are restrooms open before dark at two points along our way, as well as drinking fountains.

It's a beautiful hike, mostly trails and dirt paths, but partially on the paved bike path. It's fairly fast-paced, starting from Hagan Park, along the river through River Bend Park, across the bridge to William Pond Park and beyond before turning around and coming back a slightly different route. There are snakes and brambles, roots and rocks, bugs and fairly fast walkers. No complaining; you have been forewarned. (We pause after the first half-hour, so if you find yourself falling behind, just speak up and we'll talk about possibilities.)

Park at the Community Center lot on Chase Drive, just past the high school, but just BEFORE entering the park gate, on the right.

Another beautiful evening on the River. The odd weather really added to the beauty of the area. Fast hikers :)

Beautiful evening and fast walk, nice folks, only slightly sprinkled for a minute, didn't need my rain jacket, rocks were a bit slippery, though. Thanks, Susan, for another great workout.

I believe these lovely showers will be tapering off by 6pm, still a bit humid and cloudy, with sunset is at 7:30. Best to bring flashlight and be prepared for wet!
