The Flume Trail, though beautiful, is somewhat difficult. Please be prepared for a long day of hiking.
13.5 miles long
Trailhead elevation is 7,000' and Marlette Lake (highpoint) is ~8,000'.
The trail is 13.5 miles. The hardest part, other than the length, is at the beginning to Marlette Lake. The views of Lake Tahoe and Sand Harbor are AMAZING.
This is a SHUTTLE hike...meaning we all meet at the end of the trail at the Tunnel Creek Station near the Old Ponderosa Ranch. From there we'll smush into carpools to the trailhead 10 miles south at Spooner Lake ($6 per car parking fee). At the end, we'll give a ride to the trailhead car drivers.
9:45am Estimated arrival time at the Tunnel Creek Station near the Old Ponderosa
Please don't be late.
~12:30-1:00pm lunch at Marlette Lake
~5:00pm ending time at Tunnel Creek
~7:30pm return to Roseville
No dogs please - they can be a hazard around bikers on this steep-cliffed trail.
Please pay your carpool driver ~$18.00 toward driving, fuel, and parking. Plus realize that some folks may want to stop for dinner on the way home.
