Thursday Night Blast to the Past

Come down to Midtown and take a hike back through Sacramento's history. We'll start at Sutter's Fort and travel down historic K Street where Sacramento was born. Along the way we will stop and gaze at several handsome and noteworthy buildings built during downtown's glory days. We will turn around in Old Sacramento and travel back to the fort along J street. About 4.5 miles and should take no more than 2 hours. We will walk briskly in some sections of the hike.

We will meet at the corner of K St and 28th St. in front of Blimpie's  at K and 28th Street right off the biz 80 freeway. Bring water, flashlight, good shoes.

For more info on K Street's more prosperous days, visit:  http://www.sacramentoheritage.org/files/Historical_Society_-_Kstreet_tour_-_12-09.pdf

Great walk and people. Thanks, Marci, for all that you did in preparing and presenting the history information.

Too windy for me as well. I hope you reschedule this walk for another evening; it sounds like so much fun.

I am looking forward to getting back into hiking, but I need to start out easy to reintroduce my body back to hiking. I was an avid hiker from 26 years of age to 40. From 40 to now (52) I have been inactive, but am ready to bounce back into hiking. I have been doing some walking and bicycling and am ready for longer hikes and walks with a group of good, positive and active people. Looking forward to meeting people with joyful smiles! :)
