We need to catch this while the water is still low. 6.5 or 8 mile loop. You choose.
We will start at the Sweetwater Trailhead in the parking lot just south of the Salmon Falls Bridge. We'll head south along the South Fork of the American River for about 3.5 to 4 miles where we will make a turn near Sweetwater Creek. For those of you that want to do the shorter route we will pass a trail junction at about 3 miles that goes directly down to the Old Salmon Falls Hidden Bridge. The rest of us will follow the trail along Sweetwater Creek and explore the open lands where you will see old steps and concrete structures from back in the days. You'll see the old hidden bridge in the distance. They call this the hidden bridge because once the water rises the bridge is submerged and no longer passable. We'll come back along the creek to the bridge where we can stop and have lunch. After lunch we will continue across the bridge (for the shorter hikers as well) and continue up the hill until we hit a trail crossing. We will turn right and follow the trail back towards Salmon Falls bridge. We will have to walk across the bridge back to the cars. There is no sidewalk on the bridge so be careful.
From P & R get on I-50 east.

The trail starts south to the back end of the parking lot.
Please car pool with those doing the same distance 6.5 or 8 miles.
