Stebbins Cold Canyon 5 miles Intermediate

Stebbins Cold Canyon Nature Reserve is located just past Winters outside Davis.

It is a tough intermediate 5 mile loop with rock scrambling and lots of high stair steps.

great workout with wonderful views of Sacramento.

No dogs allowed on the reserve - sorry!

The reserve is about 55 minutes from 11th and P.

Directions to trailhead:

West on I-80 to Hwy 113

Exit at Covell Blvd/E6 (left over freeway) to Winters

In Winters, take Hwy 128 toward Lake Berryessa.

A silver fire gate will be obvious 0.2 miles past the point where Hwy 128 crosses Putah Creek. This is the main entrance to the reserve.

Parking is located directly across from the entrance.

Please pay your carpool driver $4 per hour of drive time. So, about $7.

Sorry I must have just missed you guys. I was at the trailhead, waited until 10:13 before I decided to do the hike solo. Great hike!

Sorry, Maria; I waited for you at the park'n'ride so was late to the trailhead; we got there about quarter after but then had to find parking. Mary bailed, so it was Lisa and I, and John got there way too early, so we missed him, too. Hope you had fun!

The trailhead is directly off the side of the road. Parking area is not paved but is ok for small sedans, etc.

I'm thrilled for a morning option. I'm in Davis so will meet at the TH. What time do you expect to arrive there?

We should be back by 1:30-2:00 but if you have to be somewhere absolutely by certain time you may want to drive yourself to the trailhead.

What time would we be back?

Since I can't do the evening hike, some of us will be doing it in the morning. Read the instructions, please...this is not a beginner hike! That said, I'm slow on the steps and hills, so it's not a race. :-)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
