A local brew in Cool? Yes, that does sound cool, and what better way to enjoy it than to hike over there with a group of cool, like minded people?
Let's meet at the Confluence area in front of gate # 150 at 9.30am. See directions below.
We'll hike up the Pointed Rocks Trail, aka Training Hill (1 mile strenuous) and then continue to Cool via the Olmstead Loop.
Cool Beerwerks is a new brew pub that just recently opened near the Subway store. It opens at 11am, and apparently offers Cool beer, alongside of other micro brews. Oh, food is also an option! Here's the Facebook page for it:
You don't have to eat or drink at the brew pub, btw.
After our little respite, we can either return on the Wendell T. Robie trail back to the confluence, or cross over 49 and come back down along the Quarry Trail...Let's decide on the day after we see how much time we have left.
This hike will be approx 7 miles roundtrip with the first mile being strenuous, but it'll work up a thirst for a beer sampling!
*** Please, please, if you haven't hiked much before or are just getting into it, don't attempt this hike. Training Hill is not recommended for beginners. It's extremely gnarly...This crew usually hikes at at least a 3 mile an hour pace. If you want to start early on the hill and meet us at the top, that's fine. We usually arrive around 10.15am at the peak of Training Hill. Just let me know in your RSVP**
