Another Auburn Adventure strikes again. But, you won't be disappointed, it's a flippin' good workout for those of you who haven't done it, so be prepared!
While the hill is not as hard as Training Hill, in my humble opinion, it's still a good[masked]ft of climbing on the way back out. Needless to say, it's not a hike for the meak of mind, nor the short of breath.
So, let's meet at the green gate (see below) and head on out.
I was planning on hiking down Cardiac Bypass, along the river, and then up the goat trail. However, for anyone wanting a bit shorter route, you can also return via the Cardiac trail - it too is straight up, but it does cut off some mileage.
Directions; From Sacramento I 80 E - Newcastle exit, go straight onto Indian Hill Rd. - left on Auburn-Folsom Rd. - right on Maidu Rd. -Meet at the second green gate on the right ASRA pay parking lot $10.00 If you don't have a pass or don't want to pay you can park for free across from the water treatment plant (PCWA), just slightly farther on the right.
The parking lot where we'll meet has a port-a-potty and a drinking fountain.
Let's meet there by 9.30 am!
Bring the usual - walking poles if needed, water, snacks and a good sense of humor!
This will probably be a more low key hike than normal. If you want to bring eggnog to share, or similar, please feel free.....Or, if you want to dress in your season's finest with antlers or Santa hats, any goes on this one. Well, almost anything.
