Flippin' Friday - Jordan's Rough (Ruff) & Ready Auburn Adventure - 10 miles Int

Ok, so we're off on another Flippin' Friday adventure - And yes, Jordan (our 4 pawed branch manager) is leading the way. We'll meet at Railhead Park at 9am and hike down towards the Confluence (probably along the river) and along the River View Trail. Return via the Western States Trail, or vice versa.

Bring a snack to enjoy at the Confluence, water, hiking sticks and as always, a most excellent sense of humor. Seeing as Jordan is leading the way, you may need it.

Jan has scoped this out (well, sort of), and estimates a distance of approx. 10 miles. Railhead Park has free parking, flush toilets and a water fountain.

Thanks Carla. You worked another miracle by holding off the heavy rain during our hike. It was coming down in buckets during my drive home.

Frank you really did go? It started raining in Folsom at 8:30 and never stopped till late afternoon. How many were you? It couldn't have been 13, I know some didn't change their rsvp to no.

Beatrice, there were about 10 of us, once we found Jan and Jordan. Weather wasn't bad when we were hiking. Got back just in time before the big downpour. Hope to see you next week. Oh, and I finally finished your book - interesting read. I'll bring it next week for you. Bis demnaechst und schoenes WE noch!

Yep, timing is everything. A nice hike, thanks for suggesting the river scramble, Derek. And thanks to all those who braved the weather...Glad we met up with Jan and Jordan too....The hike wouldn't be the same without our official Branch Manager along!

Thank you Carla.... the hike in the rain was great. I liked the walk down next to the river.

Sorry I forgot to change my status to no.

Lee, I'll be there, as I'm sure will a few others. I think the worst is over. It was raining so heavily early this morning, it woke me up. But, if the hourly forecast is at all accurate, we've got light steady rain until about noon, so that should give us enough time to get in a few miles.

If I lived right there and didn't have to make the drive up to Auburn into the unknown wet situation I would join you. Have fun! I see you next week.

I'm still planning on being there as well

Heading to the gym instead of a wet walk. See you next time.

Hey there. New to hiking in sac. but not to hiking. it's been a while (over 6 mo) and I really want to do something more. What do you consider intermediate? I can hike 10miles no problem

I'm going to bow out of this one for a hike in Sonoma that is closer and where there's less chance of rain. Hope to hike with you folks some other time.

90% chance of rain tomorrow? really? That's not good. I may have to bail :-(

    April 24, 2014

  • Jeff K

Hmmm, I'm thinking about joining you all. Depends how things look in the morning?

I don't enjoy hiking in the rain. Have fun and see you next wee!

    April 24, 2014

I'm not much of a rain hiker, going to cancel for tomorrow.

    April 24, 2014

  • Jan

Next week works for us but we'll join you wherever this week.

    April 24, 2014

  • Carla

So, for those of you crazy enough to join me tomorrow in the rain (yes, you know who you are), we can modify this route and do paved roads down to the river if necessary. If Jan and Jordan are available to hike next week, we can revisit this route next week..

I love to hike in the rain. I'm sad I have to miss this one!

Not feeling 100% so I don't think it would be a good idea to hike. Enjoy the hike in the rain.

Sorry Carla, I don't like hiking in the rain. I'm canceling. I'm getting a massage instead. See you next time. ; )

Okay, this looks bad, but... my son is going active with the California Conservation Corps this weekend (with very little notice), and I have to use Friday to finalize some details with him. I can't make it. Sorry all. I will see you my next Friday off.

    April 23, 2014

  • Carla

Well, we normally hike rain or shine. However, if it's a torrential downpour, we'll probably alter the route somewhat and do a shorter route on the paved road down to the river....Bring a rain mac and a good sense of humor - it's always fun to get wet and muddy!

Hope the weather changes over night! I wanna hike...:)

Weather is projecting a 90% chance of rain?

Sorry to hear about your plumbing woes, Diana. But, a good hike will cheer you up. Always works for me. C U soon!

Finally my plumbing hell is coming to an end, so I can again join in the fun! I expect to be on the verge of tears at some point. :)
