SpOOkTaCuLar HaLLoWeeN Hike

Hike the tunnels and snow sheds of Donner Summit for some wickedly spooky fun! First the tunnels for about 4 miles out and back; then up Donner Peak for 3.6 miles RT.

Out and back intermediate hike will start at Tunnel #6 and travel through Tunnels #7 and #8 down to the live track and return for a total of about 4 miles.

Optional add-on hike: 3.6 miles RT to Donner Peak for a fantastic view. Elevation 7,988 ft. About 650 ft elevation gain from TH.

Both hikes start at the same place: The dirt parking lot across Donner Pass Road from Donner Ski Ranch.

What to bring:

Hiking poles, boots (waterproof) the tunnels will be WET and possibly ICY, warm layered clothes, headlamp and flashlight---- the tunnels are DARK, water, lunch & snacks, camera, Adventurous Attitude, Halloween costume optional. Dogs OK.

8am @ the Park n Ride. Directions from Roseville Sunsplash: Take I-80 East toward Reno for approximately 73 miles. Exit 174 at Soda Springs. Turn right at stop sign and follow the Donner Pass Road for 3.5 miles. Turn right into dirt parking lot across from Donner Ski Ranch.

10am @ Trailhead.
