Mar 23 - Arrival in San Jose.  The guide will meet and greet the group. Afternoon is spent at leisure. Overnight at the Hotel Villa Tournon, located centrally in San Jose.

Mar 24: B,L*  Pacuare Whitewater Rafting Today our adventure starts early morning to reach the Pacuare River for a rafting trip. This river has been officially declared a Wild and Scenic River, and offers some of the finest white water in Latin America, winding deep inside of one of Costa Rica's most impressive primordial rainforests. Breakfast on route and lunch is served along the river. Departure time 6:00am/  Hours: stop for breakfast on the way/ 2 1/2 hours to river including the breakfast time/4 hours on the river with lunch stop. All will meet where the rafting river ends to continue to Arenal area, 3 hours drive.

Arenal’s perfectly symmetrical shape makes it a sightseer’s dream, while its abundance of outdoor activities makes it an easy place to check things off your “must-do in Costa Rica” list. So visit one of the nicest volcanoes in Costa Rica, cloud forests, a lake world-famous for windsurfing and an incredibly diverse population of wildlife is just part of what you will find in this amazing area of Costa Rica. Overnight at the Hotel La Pradera standard rooms. Breakfast & lunch is included.

Mar 25: B,L Celeste River  Hike This unique hike combines nature's beauty with a great opportunity to observe the wonderful flora and fauna. During our hike through the Tenorio Volcano National Park we pass by the River Celeste Lagoon and walk along two crystal clear streams coming together to form the Rio Celeste. Here the clear waters mysteriously change into a beautiful bright, light-blue color (hence the name “Light-Blue River”).Walking on trails into the jungle we visit an area where volcanic smoke is expelled at high temperatures from the ground. The stunning colored Rio Celeste Waterfall where you can enjoy a refreshing swim in its natural pools will be waiting for you at the end of the path.

Departure time: 7:00am   Hours: 2 hour drive to start point ( back/for) , Hike time 4 – 41/2 hours, 1 hour for lunch

Mar. 26:  B,D  Arenal Paraíso Canopy Tour Arenal Paraíso Canopy tour is considered to be one of the best canopies in the country. Its 12 platforms, over 1000 foot long cables and heights averaging 250 feet make it an unforgettable adventure. This adrenaline experience begins with a short walk to the first platform where our guides will meticulously check all the equipment. Following this inspection they will give you important instructions on how to slide properly along the cables. From the highest platform and cable you will be able to see two beautiful waterfalls. This canopy tour is for everyone, no matter your age you are, just fill your lungs with fresh air while zipping through tree tops and admire incredible views of the Costa Rican tropical rainforest. Towards the end of your trip you will fly over the Arenal River down to the last platform. There, our farm tractor will be awaiting you with refreshments before taking you on a fun trip back to the hotel. Departure time: 8:30am   Hours: 20 minutes to start point (each way) 2 1/2 hours on canopy.

Evening: Ecotermales Hot Springs. At night visit the volcanic thermal mineral pools at Ecotermales Hot Springs , where you can enjoy a healthy and relaxing soak and enjoy of a delicious dinner. Overnight at the La Pradera.

Mar. 27 La Fortuna Waterfall Hike (B) The La Fortuna Waterfall offers some of the most gorgeous scenery in all of Costa Rica. The 70-meter ribbon of water falls into a great swimming hole, surrounded by lush tropical forest, protected by the local conservation project. The water below is a greenish-blue that makes for a pleasing view. Also, downstream from the waterfall you can enjoy a more relaxing dip in calmer waters. If you don't care to go to the forest floor where the waterfall...falls, you can simply take a picture for the lookout point that offers the view featured in the picture at the bottom of this page. Recommended: Make the descent  to see this magnificent waterfall in all its splendor. Overnight at the La Pradera.

Mar. 28  B,L Monteverde - Continue to Monteverde Verde Cloud Forest. Visit cheese factory and humming bird gallery with your tour guided. After lunch return Hike at The Children’s Eternal Rainforest. The Children’s Eternal Rainforest is the largest private reserve in Costa Rica, with an area of 22,500 hectares of protected tropical forest in the northwestern region of Costa Rica. The property borders the Arenal Volcano National Park, the higher elevations of Monteverde and Miramar, and the Alberto Manuel Brenes Reserve in San Ramon. It exists thanks to the help of children and adults all over the world who have taken part in what is known as the Children’s Rainforest Movement. At present, 44 different countries have contributed to the acquisition and protection of the territories of it. Departure time: 1:30pm  Hours: 45 mins drive to start point ( back/for)/ 2 hours hike. Free time for shopping late afternoon.Overnight at the Monteverde Country Lodge, standard rooms.

Mar. 29 B,L -  Calypso Catamaran Cruise to Tortuga Island Located 12 miles from Puntarenas, Isla Tortuga’s 120 hectares are maintained as a protected forest. The area maintains the Bandera Azul Ecológica, a distinction awarded to certain beaches in Costa Rica for their pure, unpolluted waters. Because of the island’s location, its waves are gentle and its waters turquoise. If you enjoy cruising, we invite you to experience the pleasure on board our new boat, The Great Bay’s Princess, with a capacity for 190 passengers plus crew. This tour is an unforgettable trip by the sea. Tourists can rest aboard a comfortable yacht, enjoying the sparkling ocean and the scenery offered by the picturesque islands of the Gulf of Nicoya. The tour will finish at Tortuga island. Once on the island, the visitor will relish in the taste of an exclusive lunch buffet, served on the white sand beach. Then, there will be time to rest and spend the afternoon swimming, exploring the ocean and enjoying the exotic beauty of this tropical beach. Time: 1  hour drive to take the boat/ 1 1/2hour on the boat to get to Island/ 5 hours on the island/ 1 11/2/hour on boat back to port/ 1 hour back to San Jose). Overnight at the Hotel Villa Tournon.

    I'm in the same situation as Janet A, I would prefer not to pay the extra single cost as well. So, if anyone wants a roommie let me know, I don't care if it's male or female. I doubt I'll even be in the room much.
