Come along on a Winter Sketching Hike in and near Locke, Ca. This will be joined by a few artists from two other meetup groups, the Sacramento Plein Air Painters and the Sacramento Sketchers.
We'll pause for a few minutes to do quick color sketching at two spots along our way.
A hidden pond reveals itself only in winter when the trees are bare.
Climbing trees is optional.
Sleeping in trees, however, will be forbidden.
(Our lovely and agile model, above, is my 18 year old daughter, Mary Sand. Photo taken in 2012.)
Hike starts at 10 a.m. Meet in Locke in front of Al the Wops on Main Street. Don't be late!
This is a mostly level 1.5 mile hike. There is one 20' long somewhat steep narrow path up a levee hill and some optional off-path prickly narrow paths. This will be guided with a quick watercolor demo-lesson or two along the way for anyone who wants a little jump start.
Pencils, card stock and watercolors will be provided, or you may bring your own.
Approximately 90 minute hike includes two fifteen-minute stops to make small sketches along the way. Our tour winds up back on Main Street in Locke for one final optional sketch.
Group pic along the hike or at the end of it.
Your well-behaved, very obedient dog on a leash is okay to bring along. Happy children welcome to participate as well.
(Any small donation you might wish to contribute for art supplies will be much appreciated.)
Rain or high winds will postpone this event to a future date to be determined. Meanwhile, think sunshine!
