Great Falls Park Hike

This scenic 5 mile hike is like 3 different hikes rolled up into one. The hike starts out with stops at two overlooks to view the falls close-up and from a distance. Part 1 of the hike follows the Potomac River.  Part 2 follows the mid-size stream called Difficult Run. Part 3 we hike through the forested interior of the park. Restrooms can be found at the Visitor's Center. We will be taking snack break near the 1/2 way point next to a small waterfalls.

Without a park pass the entrance fee is $5 per car.  The traffic often backs up at the entrance so try to arrive 15 minutes early.

Distance & Difficulty: 5 miles, flat/moderate hill

Pace:[masked] mph, the pace of an average hiker.

Our Break Location: the newly named "Rick's Falls"

FIDO is Welcome on This Hike!

I need to back out of this Sat hike. If I can re-shuffle my things, I will try to do the Sun one. Sorry for the late notice.

Because of the bad weather on Saturday this hike is being repeated on Sunday. I recommend that you switch to Sunday for the nicer weather if you can.

Weather: Rain in the forecast for the day, the hike will go on in a modified form avoiding hills, mud and a shorten route.

Any chance of a car pool from a metro point? I'm at DuPont.
