We all know that late arrivals are inevitable and sometimes unavoidable; you got a flat, stuck in traffic, etc. It's one of those unfortunate facts of life but when we hold up a hike (or any event) for a late arrival it spreads the pain around unnecessarily. We had some great discussions and I think we've worked out an arrangement that will work out for everyone. Here's how it works:

1. We ask that you arrive on time for each event (kind of a no-brainer) but we will wait until 15 minutes after the start time before hitting the trail.

2. If you're going to be later than the start time, please call the trip leader to let them know. Each trip leader sends out an email announcement before the trip with a contact phone number. (For privacy reasons we don't post our numbers on the web site or on meetup.)

3. If there is both a leader and co-leader for an event AND we've heard from you that you're running late --- One trip leader will leave at that 15 minute post event mark with everyone who's there and will hit the trail. The second co-leader will wait for you until 30 minutes after the event. At that point they'll hit the trail with anyone who has arrived.

4. If you are running very late and will arrive more than half an hour after the event start time, we'll give you the best directions possible for meeting us on the trail. This can be very difficult and will have mixed results but its the best we can do.

Please be sure to bring a copy of the trip leader's phone number with you on the event. We will not wait behind if we're unaware that you're running late. No-shows are an unfortunate reality making it illogical to just sit around and wait hoping that someone will show.
