Last Minute Hike Murphy Hanrehan-Horse Camp Trail Entrance

We will be meeting at the South Entrance, also noted as the Horse Camp Trail Access entrance.  It is rather rustic, with a parking lot, picnic area and an outhouse.    We will hike for a about 2 hours. We will head South and East, and hike around MinnRegs Lake.  We will then head West, and hike the same trails that are used for snowshoes when our landscape is white.

Directions: From County Road 74 (aka: 154th Street West, aka: Hanrehan Lake Blvd.) turn South on County Road 75 (aka: Murphy Lake Blvd). Proceed straight, past the Main Park Entrance about one mile to the “T”. Take a left (east) at the “T” onto Sunset Lake Road. Proceed about a half mile to the Horse Camp Trail entrance on your right. We will meet in the parking lot. At our hike entrance there is a big Three Rivers Park District sign on Sunset Lake Road (see picture). Please note that both Murphy Lake Blvd. and Sunset Lake Road are dirt/gravel roads.

I am so sorry I missed the hike after doing the RSVP. I felt bad and I hope the hikers didn't wait for me. I googled the address and ended up at a similar address in Burnsville. I guess you need to be less trustful of Google too. Anyway, I was up and out and looking forward to the hike. I take my rsvps very seriously and would like to attend more hikes. Again, I am sorry if I caused inconvenience.

Great hike- thanks for organizing Tim. The fog was just lovely - and I was thrilled to end up in the same reality that I started in....at least I think that I did.....

I am now not sure I can make it tomorrow. I am going to the Gopher wrestling match and it might get to close time-wise.

Any chance a second leader might be available to open up more spots?

I have not hosted an event before but I do know theses trails and would be happy to host a second group. If I don't figure out how to post another event would it be o.k. if those of us on the waiting list meet at the same place at the same time?

If there is anyone that didn't make it off the waiting list. I will host an alternative hike. About 5 miles in total. Starts at the Minnesota Valley Wildlife refuge. Take HWY 169 to 145th ST. Across from the Renaissance Festival entrance. I will need one other to go myself.

It's Susan not Sue. The offer to help post a hike is open to all. No specific qualifications are necessary.

Thanks, Sue. I really don't feel "qualified" to do so yet. I have never been to this park and really wanted to go!
