San Gorgonio Wilderness Blitz

  • June 13, 2009 · 5:15 AM

map for directions: we will meet at the momyer trailhead at 5:15, then drive up a mile or two to vivian creek parking to start the hike.

Details Here To summit all 13 peaks in the plan, probably need around a 2000 ft/hr pace for first 3 hrs. However, to do 9-10 peaks can get away with less.

To join up for this hike and expect to stay with the group, you should be able to ascend at an average of at least 1600 ft / hr. Sign up for the waiting list. Dibs goes to 'regulars' of my hikes.

For all trips, wear boots or sturdy shoes, and bring lunch, lots of drinks, warm clothing (depending on altitude) The trip "leader" is a volunteer and not a real leader (i.e. not liable for the group). Think of it as hiking with a group of friends. Joining this hike is entirely voluntary and participants assume the full risks associated with the activities. It is each hiker's responsibility to ensure that s/he is in sufficient fitness and health to participate in a strenuous hike, with the appropriate water, food, clothing, first aid, and navigation equipment for the conditions. This group and the hike organizer make no warranties about the safety or supervision of these activities.

tough ascent, but lots of perseverance with these guys. beautiful, cool day for such a long hike. luckily everyone gets along so well that we don't even mind spending together eating, even after the hike!

oh man. yea. i'm going to keep a moderate pace. there's no reason for me to push the limits. my goal is to not break a sweat at all. i can also already see the future and it looks as though...i'll be in awake in 24 hours still.

BTW, if youve never been to the area and our taking the 10freeway..carefull on the orange/38 intersections. Half our Backpacking group got lost last week driving there as the 38 sign is easily missed. fyi.

i'm in the second group. The day i hit 2000'/hour will just so happen to be the same day the money transfers from nigeria go through. Then i can leave you all behind and hire real friends who'll carry me up the mountain when i ask. And I also don't plan on doing any more stair master. did that yesterday and hated it. HATED IT!

1600 ft / hr, or 8000 ft in 5 hrs is a pace you need to do to get the 9 peaks (a huge accomplishment).

my thinking is that the group will likely split into two groups - a few people who stay with me at a 2000 ft / hr pace, and the rest at 1600. the few with me will go off the 9 peak route and add some extras, but meet up with the rest of the group in early afternoon. i'll solidify that later.

I thought I could join you. Your notes specify plan clearly, thanks!
