The Los Angeles Hiking Group Message Board › Switzer Falls and Bear Canyon pool hopping
Simi Valley, CA
Picutre this: Swimming under a secluded tripical waterfall in a hot summer-like day. Before you book your flight to Hawaii, Bora Bora or Thailand, it would not be a bad idea to find out what's available in your backyard.
Is there an oxymoron like a secluded tropical waterfall near L.A.? Switzer Falls along Arroyo Seco Creek is such a place.
Over millions of years, Arroyo Seco Creek has cut through granite hills to form a steep canyon. This cayon works like a giant green house. Vegetation is lush; water is plentiful. When you are in it, you are isolated from the rest of the world. It is just you, rocks, the creek and waterfall.
Join us this Satureday, 10 am, at Switzer Falls Picnic Area, and let the spring water wash away your sweat and cleanse your soul.
