Night Hike & Bonfire Shawnee Mission Park

  • This location is shown only to members

Why do a Night-Hike?

Because hiking at night is a lot of fun and so are lakeside bonfires.  We will start the hike at 6:30pm and finish-up around 9:00pm. The trail is somewhat primitive, passes through heavy woods, along rocky hillsides and up some fairly steep hills.  As always in the outdoors it is wise to (be prepared). After sunset the temperatures can drop significantly so plan accordantly and dress in layers.

After the hike we will head down for a lakeside bonfire. The fire pit is awesome with lots of rock seating all around it. Bring a snack and something to share with (ten people if you can). In the event there is a red flag warning the bonfire will be cancelled. NO alcoholic beverages allowed!

** Please Read Carefully **

There is something so sweet about trekking through dark woods along a flashlight-lit path with amiable folks. Very special. Thanks to each of you for what you brought :)

Thanks everyone for attending our 4th Night-Hike & Bonfire. We had a great 7+ mile night-hike with prefect weather and another awesome lakeside bonfire. Special thanks to everyone who brought snacks to share, our photography team Christy & Alice, our check-in host Melanie and Sheila on the walkie talkie for helping out and doing a great job. It was really nice seeing everyone again!

Had a great time! The distance and speed of the hike was exactly what I was looking for. I will definitely come again!

I think there may have been some other interested people in splitting into two groups next time: one for either a smaller or even just a slower hike. How'd you feel about that? You do have 2 walkie talkies...
I can do the distance and I have the energy, but your pace is definitely hard to keep up with for first timers. And I know I wasn't the only one feeling that way that night.
