Sandia Peak Ski Area Up ,Timed Hike, Dog Friendly (Moderately Strenuous)

Meet at Smiths Grocery Store at Tramway and Central at 6:00 P.M. for a 30 minute carpool to the ski area parking lot at the base. Park just below and to the north of the ski area’s parking lot as it has not opened yet.

Distance: ~Less than 2 miles. We’ll hike up the grassy ski slopes to the restaurant at the top.

Elevation Gain: 1700 ft

Rating: Moderately strenuous.

Bring: Water, snack, and poles, if you use them.  The temperature can be 30 degrees cooler at the top than in Albuquerque.

Description:  There’s a 10 to 20% slope the entire way.  We’ll be walking under the ski lifts.  The intent of this timed hike is for participants to hike a little faster than a leisurely hike.  I will not be using a stopwatch on this first hike at the area.

This is an excellent hike for dogs because of the wide, cleared paths….Give your dog the best life it can have.

Hikers should be tolerant of lose dogs.  Hikers without dogs are always encouraged.  On our last hike only 4 members had dogs.

This is an out and back meaning we’ll come back on the same trail so no one should worry about being too far behind. Everyone should turn around after 70 minutes. On the trip down I will be walking behind the last person.

Limit 10 hikers. If you RSVP and can't make it, please change your RSVP as soon as you know so that others will have an opportunity to advance from the waitlist.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
