Pino Timed Hike With Optional Second Breakfast (moved from Piedra Lisa to Pino)

I fell guilty about canceling last minute and I want to hike so I'm moving this to Pino. It's still a one hour timed hike. That is we'll turn around after an hour.  Bring water, rain gear and good shoes. A timed hike means you may be hiking by yourself at times.  If that makes you uncomfortable, this is the not the hike for you.

After the hike I plan to head to flying star at montgomery and Juan Tabo for second breakfast. Anyone interested can join me.

We'll meet at the PINO trail head in the Elena Gallegos Picnic area.  It's a city park and parking at the trailhead is $3.00 on the weekend if memory serves.

I will leave the rsvps as is. If you don't want to do pino just drop out. Given the circumstances I won't count no shows.

To find the trail you can also click on the map link above. I found I needed to scroll to the east and zoom in to get it to show the marker for the trail head. So map might not make things obvious.

To find the trail, take Tramway Blvd. north from Academy. Turn east on the Simms Park Road leading to the Elena Gallegos Open Space. There is a fee for parking, payable at the guard station. We’ll meet at the Pino trail head. There should be signs. It's trail number 140. Look for my white jeep. The trail head is near a restroom.

Maureen, just a little north of the ice ring make a right on forest road 333. It will be paved for a while but will become a bumpy dirt road at a junction about 2 miles fro tramway. Bear left on the bumpy dirt road about a quarter mile until you see a parking area on the left. It is just before a gate which may be closed and possible locked. That is where we will meat. There is a 3 dollar parking fee. You will have to stop on the way and pay it. I'm sorry I don't know exactly where the pay station is. The pay box at the trail head parking lot was vandalized. Since it was vandalized I've always had a pass and haven't noticed where the earlier pay stations are located.
