Three Gun Springs Timed Hike, Dog Friendly (Moderately Strenuous).

Meet at Smiths Grocery Store at
Central SE, and Tramway Blvd. at 5:45 P.M. for a short carpool to the trailhead.

Distance: ~2.4 mi. one-way. We hike to the post at the top of the Tres Pistoles/Embudo trail intersection.

Elevation Gain: 1643 ft.

Rating: Moderately strenuous.
This is a timed hike meaning hikers should push themselves a little faster than their normal pace. I will be timing participants at the top of the mountain.

Bring: Water, snack, and poles, if you use them. This is a
steep trail toward the top.  It’s in a canyon so it is somewhat cooler than along the west side of the Sandias.

Hikers should be tolerant of lose dogs.

It is an out and back meaning we’ll come back on the same trail so no one should worry about being too far behind.
Everyone should turn around after 50 minutes.

We will meet at Smith's at Central and
Tramway, NE, then carpool to the Monticello Dr. Trailhead off old Route 66. Let us know if you're meeting us at the trailhead.

Dog Rules:
Dogs should be leashed in the parking lots and trailheads, and on the short distance that we pass through City-owned open-space.  If a dog starts chasing wildlife its owner will be asked to leash it.

Limit 10 hikers. If you RSVP and can't make it, please
change your RSVP as soon as you know so that others will have an opportunity to
advance from the waitlist.

If there is space on the west side of parking lot, along 4-hills Blvd I'll be there. Otherwise a little to the south. Look for red Dodge hatchback and people with dogs.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
