BLM El Malpais NCA Art Walk!

We are going caving this time around! So bring head protection (a bike helmet will do in a pinch) at least 2 flashlights, extra batteries, (a head lamp is even better) wear long pants, gloves, and please don't bring cave gear that has been in any other cave since 2005. We will go through the cave permitting process at the visitor center before taking off.

Meet at the Northwest New Mexico Visitor Center at 9:00 am. Then we will caravan to a different place within the National Conservation Area each Sunday, where all artistic minded folks can set up their easels, pull out a sketch book, or a camera and let nature inspire. There can be as little or as much walking involved as you wish. There might be artistic inspiration right in the parking area. Or you can join Ranger Jenn on a short walk for a stunning view. Total roundtrip milage each Sunday should not be more than about 1 and 1/2 miles. It's more about being outside creating art, than about hard core hiking.

Bring your own art supplies: paint, canvas, pencils, cameras, sketch books or what have you. We plan to finish by noon or 1 depending on weather and the feelings of the group. Artists are encouraged to linger if they wish.

Dress for changing weather, layered clothing, closed toe shoes, hat, sunscreen, water, and snacks.

Please contact me [masked]) if you would like more details.  Or on the day of the walk, you can call The Northwest New Mexico Visitor Center at 505- 876-2783.  Hope you can join us! :)

Hello. I received a cave permit from a Meetup on 8/11 for the Trail Volunteer Junction Cave event. Is the permit still valid? Is the Artwalk going to the Junction cave? Just wondering. Thanks!
