Hike Embudito to Oso Pass

  • Embudito Trailhead Parking

    Trailhead Road, Albuquerque, NM (map)

    35.135887 -106.483910

  • We'll be in a silver FJ Cruiser.
  • It looks like Friday has the least chance of showers (40%) with a high of only 70. Sounds like a good day to hike on the west side of the Sandias. The Embudito Trail crosses some of the most beautiful areas in the Sandias, and it's been too long since we've hiked it! We'll hike to Oso Pass, have some snacks, enjoy the view, and return.

    Distance:  8 miles round trip

    Elevation:  6,240-~8,200 ft.

Bring:  Plenty of water, snacks, RAIN GEAR, poles and clothes for layering

    Dog:  Not this hike...sorry.

Late Lunch:  For those who are interested, Il Vicino afterwards.

If you RSVP "yes" and change your mind, please remove your name so someone else can have your space. Thanks!

Yes, Dave my husband and I. So me plus one. Thank you for noticing that in the comment. Not being from here, are we feeling pretty confident about the weather? Also, it appears that we can take Montgomery to Glenwood hills Dr to TRHD road and we are at the Trail Head, correct? Thanks!

yep, that's the way to the TH. Kathy and I will watch the weather forecast this evening and decide whether or not to cancel the hike. Looks like right now the chance of rain has increased to 60%. usually in NM that means no rain, but we're in a monsoon weather pattern now. 8^)

We are from Oklahoma and are visiting. My husband and I are both planning on joining you for the hike. In the past I have not use poles. Are they necessary?

    September 11, 2013

    • Dave

Totally up to you, some people like to use them, some don't. There are a couple sections of trail where they might help.

I assume we need to add a +1 to your rsvp? We're strictly limited to 10 people by the forest service.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
