South Half of Faulty

We will hike the south half of the Faulty Trail from Canyon Estates to about 4 miles into Faulty and return.  There are supposed to be eight medallion trees on Faulty; hopefully we'll see a couple.  The hike is between 7000' and 7800' elevation but will be over 8 miles.  We'll keep a pretty good pace so we still get some exercise.  The actual hike should take around 4 hours so we should be back at Smiths by 1p or so.

We will meet at Smiths then carpool to Canyon Estates.  There are no bathrooms and there is no parking fee at the parking lot.  We will take a break for a snack before turning around.  Bring plenty of water it's forecast to be 85.

Thanks to Jim crawling under a fallen tree on his back, we were among the few to view the Henry VI Medallion.

I loved this hike - great hunt for medallions and perfect weather. Hiking companions weren't bad either. Stats: 9 miles, 2,264' climb in 6 hours. So much for my "not much elevation"!

if i could go with you i could show you 12 of the 28 medallions on the faulty that are on this hike. it's one of my favourites. i was actually up there on the trail today. it was wet, a little muddy in places, but all in all it was in great condition (other than a little new tree-fall here and there because of the recent storms). hike on!
