International Migratory Bird Day - Domino Baca Canyon - moderate hiking

This will ONLY work for those interested in birds and natural history. All levels of birding experience welcome. There WILL be hiking along trails, not especially difficult but up to 6 miles round trip. I anticipate we'll be out around 4 hours.

For information on IMBD see .

In view of the goals of this outing, no dogs please.

Bring binoculars, field guides, plant books, along with the usual hiking gear, sun protection and plenty of water.

Please ask questions, email is best but you can phone me or better text me at[masked]-0280. However I may be unable to reply until a couple of days before the meetup.

Elena Gallegos opens at 07:00, there is an entry fee of $2 per vehicle - you may want to car pool but please arrange that within yourselves. At the entrance station, go left [north] then drive to the end of the road, which is the start of the nature trail. There are restrooms there.

Thanks everyone for coming along and for your enthusiasm. I think we had a very good variety of birds [including 2 oriole species and the gorgeous male Western Tanager Gary photographed].

With all the good wishes we should have a fine morning. Please update your RSVP asap if you can't make it. And please be on time, text or phone me if needed. Bring binoculars . If birding is quiet, we'll hike and look at wildflowers more. Don't forget the usual stuff - water, sunscreen, hat and decent shoes or boots.

May hummingbirds fill the air and the sound of southwest willow flycatchers fill your ears. We'll ask our birds at the ranger station to pass the word east for happy birding.

This sounds like my thing, but I'm already signed up for a big hike. Hope this happens again so I can join in!

You guys are in for a treat! Rog is a blast to hike with and knows his birds better than anyone I know! and who knows. . . Maybe you'll see a bear! ;-) Too bad I'll be in Dallas that weekend.
