Pino Hike - Moderate to moderate plus

We’ll hike up Pino Trail to the crest have a snack and then head back down the same way.

Park at the back of the park near the bathrooms and meet at the Pino Trailhead sign.  Be sure to bring water, rain/snow gear, traction devices, and wear reasonable shoes.  Even if it's nice in ABQ it can be cold and windy at the crest so dress in layers.

Moderate is subjective so here are some numbers. Round trip distance ~10 miles. Elevation gain ~3000 feet. We will hike this as a group. This is not a timed hike. We will be going ~2 mph uphill. So if you aren't able to do ~5 miles of uphill at ~2 mph please don't come. And if you want to go significantly faster than this and don't like stopping and waiting for others please don't come. If the possibilit of an icy trail bothers you don't come. We should be on the crest at about 12:30 and back at the trail head ~2:30 pm. This depends on conditions so no promices.

There is a two dollar parking fee.

A real workout; later on my body felt like I'd fallen off the roof.

As a reminder if you are a yes but can't attend please drop out so those on the waiting list can get in. Unfortunately due to forest service rules this hike is limited to ten.

When there is snow and ice parts of Pino can get quite thin so any dogs have to be on a leach. I don't want dogs pushing by people on a thin snow covered trail.
