Distance: approximately 1.8 miles
Terrain: Trail, open space
Time: 2 hours estimate + travel time to and from Smiths
Note: If you don't have snowshoes and would like to go you can rent them at REI. We can expect sub freezing temperatures.
The Hike in a Nutshell:
- Carpool to the Ellis Trailhead from Smiths on Tramway
- The trail we are taking is relatively flat and is .9 miles each way. Beginners can stick with me and anyone faster WHO IS FAMILIAR WITH THIS TRAIL can go ahead to Tram area and enjoy the views until we get there. We'll see how busy the restaurant is. If it's not too bad maybe we will go in for hot chocolate.
- Return to parking lot using trail
- Option to stop for something to eat on the way back
I am asking everyone in my group to bring a headlamp and/or flashlight just in case.
