New Meetup: Copy of Copycat Bike Ride (Ski Area To Peak)

Announcing a new Meetup for The Albuquerque Hiking and Outdoor Meetup!

What: Copy of Copycat Bike Ride (Ski Area To Peak)

When: July 12,[masked]:15 AM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: Aaron (and Scott's) idea was so good, I just had to steal it.
We will meet at Smith's and caravan/carpool to the lower ski area parking lot. I am open to starting lower down the mountain.

This will be a bike ride from the Sandia Peak Ski Area to the Summit House and back along the Crest Scenic Byway 536. This initial part of the ride is 6 1/2 miles up hill. We will coast back down the same route to the Sandia Peak Ski Area.

As always a bike helmet is required.

Given the altitude and challenge of riding from 8,678 feet to 10,378 feet bring sufficient water for the climb. Except for about the first 200 feet the 6 1/2 miles is totally uphill. We intend to peddle up without stopping.

From Albuquerque, take I-40 East to the Cedar Crest Exit 175, North on NM HWY 14 to the Crest Scenic Byway 536, then 6 miles to the ski area.

Contact Dave on the Asst. Organizers list if you have any questions.
