This state park isn't that well known, but it's an excellent hiking spot near the Ohio border, south of Richmond. For this hike, we'll be doing around 6 miles, and Whitewater Memorial is mainly moderate with a few hills. We'll plan on doing between 3 and 3.5 hours on the trails, and we'll plan on doing trails 1, 3, 5, and possibly part of 4 (trail 4 is an out-and-back trail that dead-ends).
Inside the park, we'll be meeting at the parking lot near Poplar Grove Shelter. A map of Whitewater Memorial is located at the DNR website here and Poplar Grove is designated as Shelter A on the map.
Admission to the park is $5 per vehicle.
Our after-hike dinner will be taking place at Galo's Italian Grill in Richmond.
Car Pool Info: NEW LOCATION! To avoid the Farmer's Market crowd, our car pool will be meeting a new location for this hike, so please be aware that we will not be meeting alongside Broad Ripple High School. Instead, we'll meet along the west side of Bishop Chatard High School, which is on the corner of Kessler Boulevard and Crittenden Avenue, at 5885 Crittenden Avenue. The parking along the street is free on Saturdays. We'll meet on the sidewalk in front of the school and leave at 12pm. Please be on time.
