We’re getting closer to spring and although the snow may not be totally finished with us, it’s still great a great time to get out for a hike. For this event, we’ll be headed southwest of Indy to McCormick’s Creek State Park and plan on hiking along the creek itself as well as checking out a few other trails within the park.
We’ll plan on doing between 5 and 5.5 miles for this hike and the terrain will range between moderate and rugged areas, with a few hills providing some great views and one massive staircase. Be sure to come prepared to deal with whatever weather we may be experiencing that day.
It’s $5 per vehicle to enter the park.
We'll be meeting within the park at the Hill Crest Shelter. The parking spots along the street are usually where we park, since they're close to the restrooms across the street. A map of McCormick's Creek is located here at the Department of Natural Resources website. Scroll down on the page to the "Maps" section.
Car Pool Info: Our car pool will be meeting along the west side of Bishop Chatard High School, which is on the corner of Kessler Boulevard and Crittenden Avenue, at 5885 Crittenden Avenue. The parking along the street is free on Saturdays. We'll meet on the sidewalk at the school entrance front near the corner and leave at 10am. Please be on time.
