We’ll be headed to southern Indiana again for the second time in a row after our hike at Clifty Falls in March. The terrain at Spring Mill is mainly moderate with some steep hills, and we'll plan to do around 3 ½ to 4 hours or so on the trails. We'll be covering trails 3, 4, 7, and 5, as well as checking out the Pioneer Village, which is a mini-Conner Prairie. Since this is April, be sure to be prepared for some rain depending on the forecast.
The Spring Mill website for the park is at the Indiana Department of Natural Resources site, where you can find a map of the trails. Click "Maps" on the page and then choose "Property Map."
We'll be meeting in front of the Spring Mill Inn at 1:30pm. Just look for the crowd of us. Also, we'll plan to have dinner at the Inn's restaurant afterwards. It's a buffet that usually offers the state park basics of fried chicken, roast beef, pasta, and a salad bar.
Car Pool Info: Our car pool will be meeting along the west side of Bishop Chatard High School, which is on the corner of Kessler Boulevard and Crittenden Avenue, at 5885 Crittenden Avenue. The parking along the street is free on Saturdays. We'll meet on the sidewalk at the school entrance front near the corner and leave at 11am. Please be on time.
