The leaves are beginning to change and the temperatures are dropping, so it's time once again for our yearly ritual: a bonfire and some pizza! Oh, yes . . . and also a hike!
The hike will be at local Indy park, Eagle Creek, and we'll hike for around 2 to 2.5 hours on the park's trails, which range from moderate to easy. It's a $5 fee per vehicle for entrance to Eagle Creek. We'll be doing between 5 to 6 miles all total and we'll meet in the parking lot in front of the Peace Learning Center at 4pm.
Afterwards, we'll be meeting at long-time member Paul's house in Brownsburg for dinner and a bonfire. We'll be having pizzas from Papa John's and everyone who's interested in dinner will need to chip in from $5 to $7 depending on how many people attend. Anyone who has chairs can bring them as well, and dessert and drinks are welcome also.
If you enter from the 56th Street entrance, once you pass through the gate house, you'll continue on the street you're on (Eagle Creek Parkway) and eventually pass a parking lot on your right. You'll stay onEagle Creek Parkway for quite a while until you reach Walnut Point Road. Take a left there. Walnut Point also leads to the marina. After getting on Walnut Point, the first intersection you come to will have a ranger station on the right, but here you will make a left and then a quick right into the learning center parking lot.
If you enter from the 71st Street entrance, once you pass through the gate house, you'll wind your way through the park, staying on the same road (Eagle Creek Parkway), until you reach Walnut Point Road. You would take a right at Walnut Point, which also leads to the marina, and continue down the street to the first intersection. A ranger station will be on the right. Take a left there and then a quick right into the parking lot.
Directions to Paul's: I'll plan on having directions for everyone, but basically we'll be heading up Lafayette from Eagle Creek to West 86th St and head west 5 miles. We'll turn right at the Brownsburg Landscaping sign and go north about a mile. When the road turns to gravel, we're there. Or from Brownsburg, take 267 north to Fayette. At the junk shop, turn right on CR750; then take the first right onto Wolf Rd. It's gravel. The house is the first house on the left after about a mile. Paul's address is 7990 Wolf Road, Brownsburg, IN 46112. It's okay to park on the grass, in front of the garage, and out by the red barn.
