Swakane Canyon, *this Saturday*

Rountrip: ~10 miles
Elevation gain: 2800 feet
Highest point: 4280 feet

Swakane canyon is north of the town of Wenatchee. We will do a semi-loop: hike up the standard trail (old road) to the top of the ridge and unnamed peak for great views most of the way up. Going down we will travel off-trail cross-country in the low grass and eventually rejoin the standard trail further down. Pace will be moderate to fast. The trail is snow-free.

If you are a slow hiker, this is not the hike for you.

This is creepy crawly country, so if you’re afraid of ticks, snakes or whatever, this is not the hike for you.

Since we are going cross country, you must have long pants and sturdy hiking boots. No trail runners, sandals, etc. Wearing gaiters is also a good idea when traveling through the grass in snake country. For tips read

No dogs please.

We will likely stop for dinner somewhere on the way back. I’m not sure when we’ll be back, so if you sign up, please don’t have plans for Saturday evening. It’s a long drive and a long day.

Not to pile on as it looks like we have enough. I can fit three and I have a valid Discovery Pass.

The Discover Pass is transferable only between 2 vehicle license plates.
My older Cherokee can make it also if needed.

I can drive (Jeep - me plus 3 passengers). I'm not sure if my Discover Pass is expired or not. So if someone has one, but doesn't want to drive, please bring it.
