Wonderful day! Shelli, thanks for organizing, and special thanks to Lance for staying back with me at my pace. And also for being so well equipped and having spare maps! Looking forward to future hikes.

Capitol Hill is blocked and I was at P&R 10 minutes late. Cruised around but did not see anyone. So sorry.

Hi - really bummed, but don't think I can go because I don't have a forest pass. Just moved here. I tried to get one online, but they only send them hard copy. I will order one now so I'm ready for the next hike.

Hi Shelli - last minute change in plans. I'm going to have to go into work tomorrow so I wont't be able to join the hike. Looking forward to joining you and the group on the next one.

Myself and 2 friends would like to join, did you guys ever decide if you wanted to split into 2 groups? would love to partake and meet you all while enjoying this great scenic hike.

    June 27, 2013

    • Shelli

Hello Kymberly, we are going to probably split into two groups once we get up to the trailhead. Lance has agreed to take the lead for half the group.

Fabulous! Well see you in the morning. Thanks shelli! Looking forward to meeting you.

Everyone note the time change: *Leave* the Eastgate P&R at 8:45 am and the trailhead at 9:30

I will be at the P & R early and can take three. I drive a 2003 maroon/cherry Xterra. If folks want to speak up for a seat i'll hold one. Otherwise i'll fill seats as people arrive. In any case at 8:45 am i will fill empty seats with anyone who wants/needs a ride and be leaving.

Recent trip reports list bugs, mud, and a blowdown as the trail issues, and it is forecast to be hot. Plan accordingly and bring plenty of fluids (or tretment...)

Great -- thanks, Lance. See you tomorrow.

Hello everyone! I am looking forward to the hike tomorrow and meeting all of you!

It looks like it is going to be warm and sunny... bring lots of water and sunscreen. And as Lance mentioned, the recent trip reports noted bugs, so perhaps some bug repellent as well.

I plan to stop and have lunch at the lake, so I encourage you all to bring some food as well.

See you all either at the park and ride at 8:45 or the trailhead at 9:30. Again, if you are planning meet at the park and ride and haven't yet mentioned it here in the conversation, please do so, or give me a call. My number is[masked]

I still have two seats open... I drive a green Subaru Outback. Please let me know if you need a ride from Eastgate P&R.

    June 28, 2013

    • Asim R.

Shelli, I'm going to be driving on my own. I can either ride with you or we can ride in my car. Either way works for me.

      June 28, 2013

      Sounds good! See you tomorrow.

I can give ride to three people from the Eastside P&R to Trailhead and back. Look forward to meeting everyone.

I'll drive myself and my guest because I may have to leave early for an event in the evening. I do have a NW forest service pass and live right by the Kenmore park and ride and could bring one additional person. Ride back would depend on being able to leave early and being able hike down pretty fast.

  • Shelli

Wow, what a great turn out so far! It seems to have exceeded the max. of ten, so depending on how many actually show up, we may want to break up into two groups.

Regarding how long... I do not move at a fast pace, I am more moderate and steady. I expect this hike, with a brief stop at the lake for lunch, will take me 4-5 hours, so returning to the trailhead between 2 and 3. I know some others may move more quickly than me, and pace may be a good way to break up into two groups.

A few have mentioned they have engagements later that afternoon or evening. Any concerns with moving the meeting time up 30 minutes... so park and ride by 8:45 and trailhead by 9:30?

I have a car and can take two more comfortably (three more would be doable but tight).

I just ask if you want to meet at the park and ride, please make sure you note it here in the conversation, so we know who to look for. Thanks!!!

Thank you Shelli for considering a change of time, however I will not be able to make it this time. I hope to see the group in future hikes though

Hi all, it looks like we have 24 people hiking to Annette Lake this Saturday! Although it looks like I might be the event organizer, really Shelli is, and she asked me to close RSVPs because the group is so large.

Out of respect for other parties out there, could we split into two groups going up to the lake? I think I saw an official limit of 12 to a group on similar trailheads. If Shelli is leading one group, is there someone who would be so kind as to volunteer to lead the other half of our group from the trailhead?

    June 27, 2013

    • Shelli

      Thanks Steve!

      June 27, 2013

  • Lance D.

Steve, i'm an assistant organizer and can "lead" hapf the group.

This will be my first meet-up with the group -- I'll be on the slow side! I'll be at the Eastlake Park and Ride at 9:15.

I will take the 554 bus from Seattle and meet at the P&R. Would like to carpool to the trailhead.

I am adjusting the time by 30 minutes... unless I get a lot of dissent.

Did this hike 2 weeks ago so not quite ready to go back yet but the trail is great with some snow spots near the top and the lake still had some ice on its edges. Beautiful! Heads up, Mosquitoes were crazy at the lake!!!

I will be at the Eastgate P&R and would like to carpool w someone from there! Really looking forward to the nice weather and the hike! N always glad theres an option to carpool from a transit station, ensures bus commuters like myself the ability to sign up for these events. So thank you.

Vikas, i just read the most recent TR on WTA. They said about 1:20:00, which would fit with it being about 3.75 miles and 1400'. That assumes of course one has solid trail legs and is not carrying a substantial load. If you carpool make sure the others in the vehicle share your expectations.

    June 26, 2013

  • Lance D.

I'm in. The group might outpace me, butno worries. I live in Bothell, have a pass, and can carpool or give a couple others rides. There's a small chance i'll have to cancel, i will know tomorrow...

    June 26, 2013

  • Vikas

Hello, I would love to join, however does anyone have an estimate on how long will this take? I have an event to go to the same evening.

    June 26, 2013

  • Steve J.

I'm in! Thanks for choosing this!
