I'll be in town this day so I thought I should post an event.
Bring something for the BBQ to share. This is a cross posted event.
Bring bus fare or drop off a car at Richmond beach ahead of time.Bus info (about 1.5 hours total, including walking); or meet us at 6:30am for car drop offs and car pooling. The bus runs every 30 minutes at 5 minutes to the half hour from 20th NW and Richmond Beach Road. Route numbers: 348 358 48
7:20-7:30am - meet everyone, sign in names to keep track of people
7:30-7:40 am - discuss the route, environmental and safety precautions
7:40-11:45am - hike
noon-3:00pm - BBQ at the upper Picnic Shelter at Richmond Beach Park. Bring something to share: if your first name starts with a vowel, bring a main dish; if it starts with a consonant, bring a salad, veggie, snack or dessert; if you don't know your vowels from your consonants, ask ;-) if you don't know how to spell your name, look at your drivers license ;-).
BYOBeverage. Keep in mind that this is a park and like virtually all parks in the US, alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
Carpooling: I can pick up carpool people from Shoreline, Lake City, Greenlake, Northgate, etc.; email or call me if you want a ride. My cell # is [masked]
Carpooling with me so far:
Hey we have a nice minus tide, which means we have a beach, so let's hike from Golden Gardens, past Carkeek at our 2 mile mark, past the wild section at Richmond Highlands and on to Richmond Beach Park, figure about 4-5 hours total, then take the metro bus back to the start, bring bus fare. Bus info (about 1.5 hours total, including walking) while we could drop cars off in advance, that doesn't save time for the drivers. The bus runs every 30 minutes at 5 minutes to the half hour from 20th NW and Richmond Beach Road. Route numbers 348 358 48
It's about a 7 mile hike, the tide is at its lowest at 8am and we have to beat the tide or we swim ;-)
There may be some sections with water on them, your feet may get wet, so wear shoes that you don't mind getting wet.
