Winter is but several weeks away and once again the Backcountry Film Festival is answering the call. There is no better way to celebrate the fun and beauty of winter than with the Backcountry Film Festival, a true celebration of winter played and lived as told thru the seven unique films.

The Festival will involve more than 100 showings around the world with the Seattle festival night event serving up the best free raffle in town, pre-event food and beverages available to purchase from Dante's Inferno Dogs, and mountains of cinematic inspiration to prove once again that Winter Rocks!

The films come from renowned filmmakers who search and explore backcountry corners across the globe to submit their best work, as well as from grassroots filmmakers who take a video camera out on their weekend excursions and submit their best film short. The entries are juried by a panel of judges and the top selections are assembled into a 90 minute program.

The festival was created eight years ago to highlight Winter Wildlands Alliance's efforts to preserve and promote winter landscapes for human-powered users.

This year's program includes seven films:

Winner of the Best of the Backcountry award, Skiing the Void from is a reflection on taking chances during a two-year odyssey in the Andes.

Further, brings the return of Jeremy Jones and friends to push the limits of their mountain experience under their own power.

Luc Mehl chronicles an epic trip across the wild in Alaska Wilderness Classic.

A Story of Trust is a call for climate recovery from a nine-year-old activist and the winner of this year's Best Environmental Film.

Denali Experiment is a look at a different type of expedition film from Camp4Collective.

Freedom Chair is an athlete's journey back to the slopes and his love of winter.

Unicorn Sashimi highlights the amazing winter snowscapes of Japan

Ooops. Thot it was to be more about general out of doors but none the less, spectacular. But don't think I'm gonna ski off any cliffs any time soon.

Meant to also post website: for more info about me. Been meaning to get on hikes but a lot of things relating to deadlines and a spat of bum health got in the way. That's behind me and the summer looks clear for LOTS of hiking tho I suspect many a trail is going to be pretty messy from downed trees for a while!

Looking forward to event and meeting folks who might also be artistically oriented and would be interested in getting together at a coffee house and chat about art and hiking. This summer, I will be completing third book of a trilogy (MAJESTY OF THE WORLD) about hiking and the healing power of nature and would welcome folks to journey on the trails with me. Who knows? You might end up in the book! I won't be in my white outfit but will be wearing a white vest and tie. Come up and say "Hi"

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
