One of the most fabulous places ever hiked to (and I've been around a lot: New Zealand, Wind River Range, Sierras, Alps) has to be the Tank Lakes Plateau, Central Cascades. I made it the cover art for my book, "The Mountains of the Night." It's a tough hike but hope to get up there again to climb La Bohn Mountain.
My life is my fun. Having said that, to be more erudite--when not having a blast hiking or writing, go to coffee houses, urban hikes, reading, films, especially Magic Realist films ("The Artist," "Hugo," "Midnight in Paris," "Like Water for Chocolate.") Ballet, (greatly enjoy classical music), concerts.
I'm a writer ("Mr. Magic Realism") and a hiker/backpacker. When not writing, I'm hiking. Due to "life-stuff", many former hiking buddies not around and my partner works a lot. Haven't hiked much lately so a little rusty. But not for long.
Looks like a lot of good folks but due to being swamped with professional and other life-stuff (writing/publishing deadlines and pesky health issues but clearing up, happy to say) haven't done anything with members of group but hoping that March/April, can start joining activities and respond faster folks than present (some 20 days later after event. Ouch!)
